A Quick Update


I've decided to pull the curtain back a little with this post, and explain some of the issues I've had while developing the last 2 updates. Well, I say some but it's really only one. I'll try to keep this brief.

When developing v0.4.2 I noticed that the Armour Defense stat wasn't being used. At all. So I decided I wouldn't worry about that then, and I would fix it in v0.4.3. Well, I kept pushing it off while developing v0.4.3 and worked on other things that I thought would be harder. Little did I know how hard it would actually wind up being. When I finished adding The Necromancer and fixing the Bow icons, I got to work on the Armour Defense stat. I started creating math equations that would satisfy my need. Sadly, none of them did. So I decided to push out v0.4.3 without that feature, and work on it again in v0.4.4. Well, since I was sick of staring at math equations, I decided to finish up some of the other things I had to do. When that was finished, I went back to bashing my head against the wall and fixing Armour Defense. I have spent the last two weeks doing nothing but math, and I got tired of it again. I pushed out v0.4.4 today, and figured you all deserved to know what was going on.

The reason this is so complicated, is because Combat itself is already very complicated. So, trying to make sure every Attack works at every Level is time consuming and headache inducing. For example; One of the equations worked well for Normal and really well for Power Attacks. However, Light Attacks would only produce negative numbers at the higher levels.

I hope you've enjoyed this glimpse at what goes in to developing this game. V0.4 and the Combat Overhaul will be finished once the Armour Defense stat is fixed. To ensure that happens, I'm going to focus on building an equation and see what happens.
